One of the simplest things to do to save the planet is to refuse packaging. It's simple, just "no thanks" or "please recycle this packaging for me".
My other simple tip is bring reusables for your produce and bulk foods. It can be as simple as a clean single sock to collect nuts or beans. But it socks aren't your thing there are lots of reusables for produce on the market. My fav is one called Carebags (from Canada). I first bought them in the early 1990s, and still use them. The company relaunched a couple years ago. So whether you like old socks or want to pick up the best product, reusing is what it's all about.
I am a research psychologist by day, mom and environmentalist after work. With this blog I'm sharing my personal research and decisions on our family's efforts in becoming greener, together with everything around us. We're striving to be greener but within bearable costs and efforts. I'll post reviews and information on staple products that touch our day to day life because I'm sure that the 10/90 rule applies here as well: with 10% more effort/cost, we can get 90% greener (oh well, maybe 20/80). Your comments are are always appreciated.

And yes, refuse packaging.
